Yahoo do release info on what servers third party apps can use to join the service. It would not do File Transfers which includes Pics-in-Chats. While the sound was OK, the video needs lots of improvement. It does not include the Mac to Mac Video and audio Only chat option that AIM, Jabber and Bonjour already had. However, when we tested the video call feature, we were surprised by the somewhat poor quality of the video. Text messaging is good, and the sound notifications are very handy. During our testing, Yahoo Messenger for Mac did its job pretty decently. What we liked is that the platform is finally opening its doors by adding support for MSN, Lotus Samtime, and LCS platforms so you can add your friends using the aforementioned platforms to chat. The application's user interface is well-designed and has all the control buttons available at a glance. What we found were some nice features but nothing that really stands out over other messaging apps. Considering that its Windows-based version is one of the most-used messaging apps, we were eager to see how the app performed.
